Storyline

Scott Calvin is disgusted to learn that his ex-wife, Laura, and her husband, Neil, have tried and failed to convince their 6-year-old son, Charlie, that Santa Claus does not exist. Scott reads "The Night Before Christmas" on Christmas Eve and then receives an unexpected visitor on his roof. When Santa is startled by Scott's call and falls off, he vanishes, leaving only an 8-reindeer sleigh and instructions to put on the suit if he is involved in an accident. Scott does so and is transported around the town dropping gifts down chimneys until he is taken to the North Pole and informed by a group of elves that he is now Santa. Charlie, on the other hand, is pleased with Scott's new position.
